Did you know there are an estimated 10,000 new horse owners every year in the United States?
And as many as 70% give up on their dream of ownership and success with their horses within the first year.
Many times people are ridiculed or hurt, or their horses are blamed for the problems.
Janel has Bachelor of Science Degrees in Corporate Fitness and Psychology and uses her experience to enhance both her
riding and teaching methods. She has been instructing since 2000 and promotes a positive attitude, focusing on what a
person CAN do through encouragement and building on their strengths.
If you could enjoy horses without the fear and frustration often experienced by new riders - wouldn't it be worth a try
or maybe a second chance?
Janel Brookshire founded
Stay in the Saddle to help new and beginning horsemen by being a reliable source of information and instruction to them.
"The Four C's of Riding"
To best explain the Stay in the Saddle method, Janel Brookshire has developed the Four C's of riding:
- Comfort- the first step is learning how to be in control of your own body on the horse; to achieve a deep and balanced seat;
and to be comfortable.
- Communication- once you are comfortable, you can then begin to properly communicate with you horse.
- Control- with the communication through the correct use of cues, you can begin to be in control of your horse.
- Confidence- when you are comfortable, you can begin to communicate; when you are cueing your horse properly, that's when you
truly begin to experience control over your horse; and with control, you will begin to experience confidence."
